Donating To Cancer NGOs: Why Is It Important?

1431.

This is the total number of cancer-related deaths recorded in 2020 in Mauritius. One of the causes of cancer deaths is a lack of access to quality medical treatment, which is often expensive. Donations are critical for cancer-related non-governmental organizations because they enable us to sponsor cancer patients so that they can receive adequate medical treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation, and proper nutrition. Our goal is to provide all cancer patients with an equal opportunity to fight cancer. In 2020, 2883 people have been diagnosed with cancer in Mauritius. An increase of 8% compared to the year 2019. If we do not take immediate action, this tendency will keep growing, and new cancer cases will increase yearly.

Cancer patients require immediate treatment to improve their chances of survival. They require medical attention, emotional support, and, most importantly, financial assistance to receive the necessary treatment. Furthermore, they require motivation to deal with this situation, as well as ongoing support to deal with the slew of changes. As a cancer-fighting NGO, we work with the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, provide cancer patients with equal access to quality cancer care, assist healthcare experts, and raise cancer awareness.

How Are Donations Important?

Donating to a non-profit organization allows you to support a cause that is important to you while also helping to remedy a social problem. You may not be a doctor or have a large bank account, but your donation can provide cancer patients with the opportunity to receive quality cancer care and improve their chances of survival. Donating to a non-profit organization provides satisfaction to the donor in addition to helping the needy. It’s incredible to think that your contribution could help save lives or improve a global health issue. Working behind the scenes to learn about the realities of cancer patients and how you can save lives or help others is invaluable.

It is undeniable that over the past years, the number of donors has decreased. The reason behind this is probably that donors ignore how their donations are being used. Are they going to properly use my donation? It’s perfectly normal for donors to have a certain apprehension about their donations. While this is understandable, it is important that donors are made aware of how their donations are being used. Without donations, the association can not operate properly. All heroes need a sidekick. Our cancer patients need your support.

How Do We Use Donations?

The FMCI relies on a variety of sources to meet its established objectives, notably supporting all cancer and cancer-related activities; investing funds to assist and ensure the best possible life-saving treatment and care for financially disadvantaged cancer patients (both locally and internationally); providing medical equipment to Mauritius’ cancer hospitals; assisting with cancer research and development in Mauritius, including treatment, care, and side effects; as well as offering emotional support to cancer patients.

With the help of donations, the Falcon Memorial Cancer Institute (FMCI) can give cancer patients a fair chance to fight through this battle and come out victorious. Many patients do not have access to proper cancer treatment due to financial constraints. The FMCI’s goal is to ensure that all cancer patients have equal access to quality treatment. But we won’t be able to do it without the help of our donors. Donations, regardless of amount, are a boon to non-profit organizations that are constantly in need of financial assistance. Every rupee can make a significant difference in this fight against cancer. Donating is, above all, an emotional act. Remember, cancer can happen to anyone regardless of your skin color, status, or educational background. We need to address the heart of the matter, but this can only happen with you.

FMCI seeks to support and assist any person who has been affected by cancer. From patients diagnosed with any type of cancer to their families and surrounding healthcare experts or the general public, FMCI aims to provide financial support to patients who require treatment both in Mauritius and abroad, as well as funding research based on cancer, purchasing medical equipment to treat cancer in hospitals, and maintaining a strong effort to massively raise awareness about cancer.
